Who is leading this tour?

The Moveable Feast Tours 2010 Tuscan Food and Photography Workshop will be led by Steve Roth, Doug Ness and Cristino Griego. We are three friends with a deep passion for travel, food, and photography, and a great interest in sharing these passions with others.

Steve Roth, the founder of Moveable Feast Tours, is spending the summer in southern Maine taking photographs and honing his hospitality skills.

A native midwesterner, he spent most of the last decade in Washington, DC, where for eight years he helped lead C-SPAN’s grassroots marketing efforts, and gained extensive experience creating unique travel experiences in the corporate marketing realm. Steve is now putting his years of tour planning, customer service, event-marketing, and hospitality experience to work for Moveable Feast Tours.

Steve is an avid photographer and a food and wine lover. Last summer he and Doug traveled for 7 weeks and 7,000 miles around the US, taking thousands of pictures, and never once driving on the Interstate Highway System. His photography web site will be up and running soon.

Doug Ness, a fine art and travel photographer from Chicago, is leading the photography component of the Moveable Feast Tours Tuscan workshop. If your dream is to become a better photographer—or even to someday make it your career—then Doug is the perfect guy with whom to spend a week in Tuscany.

Before becoming a photographer Doug spent fifteen years as a corporate bond salesman in New York and Chicago. His life changed during Christmas a few years ago in his native North Dakota when he began taking pictures of the state's small towns and wintery landscapes using his iPhone. He bought his first Nikon a few weeks later and decided to become a professional photographer.

Since that time, Doug has participated in workshops and completed coursework in Chicago, London, and Greece; started his own photography business; exhibited his work in Chicago; and traveled the country and overseas on various photo projects. He is currently completing the Career Training Program at the renowned Rocky Mountain School of Photography.

You can visit his portfolio website at dougnessphotography.com

Doug will join the Moveable Feast Tours Tuscan workshop fresh from his latest professional training, eager to share his deep insights with our guests.

Cristino Griego, from Denver, Colorado, will be serving as our private chef and "chief culinary officer" during the week.

We’re in good hands. Not only does he trace his ancestral roots to Tuscany, but he is also a frequent visitor there, and to Greve in particular, where he knows many of the local culinary treasures.

Cristino studied at Denver’s acclaimed Cook Street School of Fine Cooking, and trained at the Culinary Institute For Foreigners in Austi, Italy. He also studied with a Master Chef in Provence. He founded Della Radice Gourmand Services, where he applies his talents for private groups of 100 or fewer. He also leads weekend culinary tours of Denver’s restaurant scene.

Cristino grew up in New Mexico in a food-loving family, he is a passionate food advocate, and he is excited to return to Tuscany and share his great love of food and wine with our workshop participants.
